How to Create an OpenGov/Viewpoint Cloud Account

  1. In your browser, go to OpenGov/ViewPoint Cloud.
  2. In the upper right corner, click Log In
  3. Choose Create a ViewPoint ID.
  4. During your first application, you'll be prompted to complete your profile
  5. Click on Profile in the selections on the right to complete your profile.
  6. Once you have a profile, you can login to proceed with applying for a permit.

How to Log in to OpenGov/Viewpoint Cloud

  1. In your browser, go to OpenGov/ViewPoint Cloud.
  2. In the upper right corner, click Log In.
  3. Choose Login with your ViewPoint ID.
  4. During your first application, you'll be prompted to complete your profile.
  5. Click on Profile in the selections on the right to complete your profile.
  6. Once you have a profile, you can login to proceed with applying for a permit.

Applying for a License/Permit from the Select Board

Note: You must have an account to start an application — see above.

  1. In your browser, go to the Select Board page of OpenGov/ViewPoint Cloud.
  2. Click Select next to the type of license/permit.
  3. Review the provided information and requirements for the selected type of license or permit.
  4. Click Apply Online to start the application. At that time, if you have not already logged in, you'll be prompted to log in or register as a new user.

Saving Draft Applications

Applications can be saved as drafts and completed at a later time. To save your application, click on Save Draft and Exit on the upper right side of the form.

To return to that draft:

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. In the Active Records section, click on the Record. All Draft records will be labeled Draft.

Paying Fees

  1. Fees can be paid via the online permit with a credit card or e-check. A nominal processing fee added for online payment.
  2. If you prefer not to pay online, checks can be mailed or hand delivered to the Select Board Office 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA 02420. Checks should be made payable the Town of Lexington with license type(s) noted in memo field.

To return to the ViewPoint Cloud home page click the Town of Lexington, MA in the top banner of the screen.

Email Notifications

You will receive email notifications to the email address in your profile about your permit applications. These notifications are sent to keep you informed about the status of your permit, such as when:

  • Your application has been reviewed
  • A payment is due
  • There are outstanding items for your application
  • Your permit or license has been issued

Receiving Your Permit or Other Document

When a permit or license, certificate of occupancy, certificate of completion, or any other document is issued, the applicant is notified automatically via email to the email address of your OpenGov/ViewPoint Cloud account.

To Print a Permit or Other Document

In the email, click on the Print button. This will take you to the Record page. You can also log in to the ViewPoint Cloud site, go to your Profile, and click on the Record.

On the Record page, click on the Print Permit step and click Print (toward the bottom right of the preview).

Accessing Your Profile & Records

  1. Log in to your OpenGov/ViewPoint Cloud account.
  2. Click My Account in the upper right corner to access your profile and your records.
