National Accreditation

Lexington DPW Receives National Accreditation

Only the second Public Works Department in Massachusetts to be accredited.

Accredited Agency LogoThe American Public Works Association (APWA) Accreditation Program evaluates the effectiveness of agencies and their competencies in the public works field. Lexington is the 90th department nationwide to receive full accreditation.

The Lexington Department of Public Works spent several years developing, enhancing and documenting their policies and practices, working within the APWA Public Works Management Practices Program. This voluntary, multifaceted program is designed to provide guidance and technical resources to managers as they evaluate and upgrade the performance of their agencies.

The accreditation effort involved all 80 members of the Department of Public Works, as well as many other town employees.
