Lexington Age-Friendly Report

The Department of Human Services recently released the final report Lexington for All Ages: A Community Needs Assessment, which shares key findings related to living and aging in Lexington.

The report comes after months of research and gathering of community input to assess the needs of aging residents in Lexington to learn both what we are doing well and where we, as a Town, need to focus energy and resources to make Lexington more livable for all ages. The assessment was facilitated by the expert team at the Center for Social and Demographic Research on Aging, a research unit within the University of Massachusetts Boston Gerontology Institute.

Findings and priorities from this assessment include the following areas:

  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Outdoor spaces and buildings
  • Community and health services
  • Social participation
  • Civic engagement and employment
  • Communication and information
  • Inclusion and respect

Moving forward, Town staff will review the report in depth with stakeholders, the Select Board, the Town Manager, and other groups looking at similar areas relating to livability in Lexington.
