Ad Hoc Transportation Committee
The Ad Hoc Transportation Committee will evaluate the Lexpress bus service to provide a recommendation to the Select Board no later than December 15, 2023 on the future of the Lexpress bus service in time to be incorporated into the FY25 budget.

Affordable Housing Trust
The purpose of the Trust shall be to provide for the preservation and creation of affordable housing in the Town of Lexington for the benefit of low and moderate income households and for the funding of community housing.

Appropriation Committee
The Appropriation Committee serves as the fiscal advisory body to Town Meeting and is charged with making recommendations on the prudent management of the financial affairs of the Town.

Battle Road Scenic Byway Committee
The Battle Road Scenic Byway Committee carries out the activities of the Corridor Management Plan for transportation, land use, and tourism along the Byway.

Bicycle Advisory Committee
The Committee shall advise the Select Board on all matters relating to bicycle routes and general bicycle policy to serve the best interests of the Town of Lexington and its citizens and those of neighboring communities affected by these facilities.

Board of Assessors
The Board of Assessors is responsible for meeting the certification requirements of the Department of Revenue by revaluing all properties in the residential and commercial classes.

Board of Health
The Board of Health is held responsible, (under various Massachusetts General Laws), for disease prevention and control, and health and environmental protection and promoting a healthy community.

Board of Library Trustees
The Board of Library Trustees oversees the financial affairs, trust funds, fundraising activities and sets the policy for the operation of the Library.

Board of Registrars
The Board of Registrars' original purpose was to verify the accuracy and validity of elections; however, the Board may vote to authorize the Town Clerk to perform all certification functions.

Capital Expenditures Committee
The Capital Expenditures Committee makes recommendations to Town Meeting concerning capital expenditures requests from Town boards and departments.

Cary Lecture Committee
Committee members determine which events will be offered in the Cary Lecture Series each year, then plan and implement them.

Commission on Disability
The Lexington Commission on Disability provides research on local problems, recommendations regarding Town policies and services, assistance with ensuring legal compliance, information and referral services, and programs – all with regard to people with disabilities.

Communications Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Communications Advisory Committee advises the Select Board and other Town officials on all aspects of wired and wireless communication and data services to and within the Town government.

Community Preservation Committee
The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) is responsible for reviewing applications for funding under the Community Preservation Act (CPA) and recommending to Town Meeting expenditures of CPA funds on those projects it supports each year.

Condominium Conversion Board
The Condominium Conversion Board establishes license fees, notifies abutters of proposed condominium sites, holds public hearings, and files a decision with the Town Clerk.

Conservation Commission
The Conservation Commission is responsible for the preservation of open land and the protection of wetlands through the provisions of the State and Federal Wetlands Protection statutes.

Council on Aging
The Council on Aging provides policy guidance in the operation of the Senior Center, which coordinates and carries out programs designed to meet the needs of the aging.

Design Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Design Advisory Committee is to assist the town in providing professional design guidance on town-funded projects or town buildings and facilities.

Economic Development Advisory Committee
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) seeks to promote balanced, long-term economic development, which reflects and enhances the character of our community.

Fence Viewers
According to State law, the Select Board shall annually appoint two or more fence viewers. The fence viewers arbitrate fencing disputes.

Fund for Lexington Board
This Fund is devoted to three purposes - beautification, human services (primarily, to assist those in our community who may need help to overcome a financial crisis), and community betterment initiatives.

Gammel Legacy Trust
The income from the Gammel Legacy Trust is “to be expended by the board of public welfare and by two ladies appointed annually for the purpose of purchasing such luxuries or delicacies for the Town poor, wherever located, as are not usually furnished them, and shall tend to promote their health and comfort.”

Greenways Corridor Committee
The Greenways Corridor Committee identifies, actively plans, and recommends the establishment of pedestrian, bicycle, and other greenways corridors linking Town conservation, recreation, and other open spaces.

Hanscom Area Towns Committee
The Hanscom Area Towns Committee (HATS) coordinates the policies and activities of the four towns that contain Hansom Field (Bedford, Concord, Lexington, and Lincoln) and their relationships with the major organizations that operate in the Hanscom Field area.

Hanscom Field Advisory Commission
The Hanscom Field Advisory Commission (HFAC), established under the Hanscom Field Master Plan, provides continued communication between the communities surrounding Hanscom Field and the Massachusetts Port Authority.

Historic Districts Commission
The Historic Districts Commission reviews and approves all plans within the Lexington Historic Districts for construction, demolition, exterior renovations, color changes, and signs.

Historical Commission
The Lexington Historical Commission (LHC) was established to preserve and develop the historical and archeological assets of the town.

Housing Partnership Board
The Lexington Housing Partnership promotes and supports affordable housing activities, and recommends appropriate actions.

Keeper of the Lockup
The Select Board appoints the Police Chief as Keeper of the Lockup every year, as required by Massachusetts General Laws.

Lexington Center Committee
The Center Committee advises the Select Board and the business community on managing change in Lexington Center to ensure its long-term viability while preserving its historical significance and the integrity of adjacent neighborhoods.

Lexington Council for the Arts
The Council for the Arts administers State Funds by soliciting and evaluating applications for funding from eligible recipients, distributing the funds, and ensuring that they are properly used. It may also undertake projects intended to further the appreciation and support of the arts in Lexington.

Lexington Housing Assistance Board (LexHAB)
The role of LexHAB is to expand the Town’s inventory of affordable housing for rental to families of low and moderate-income, and with preference when possible to those who work and live in Lexington.

Lexington Human Rights Committee
The Committee seeks to build a stronger, more unified Town that respects and recognizes both our diversity and our commonalities, and confront statements and actions that conflict with these core values.

Lexington Scholarship & Educational Fund Committee
The Committee oversees distribution of funds collected biannually, through the tax bill solicitation, to either the Lexington PTA Council Scholarship Fund or the Lexington Education Foundation, as indicated by the donor.

Mental Health Task Force
The Lexington Mental Health Task Force is funded and staffed by Town of Lexington officials and Lexington Public Schools Staff to provide leadership and a community-wide focus by engaging providers, residents of all ages, and the greater Lexington community in mental health and wellness initiatives.

Monuments & Memorials Committee
The Monuments & Memorials Committee wants to track down forgotten memorials, restore them, and once again honor Lexington’s heroes in an online database where their stories can be shared with one and all.

Neighborhood Conservation District Study Committee
The Study Committee, working with residents of the proposed Neighborhood Conservation District (NCD) Area, shall meet to evaluate the appropriateness of an NCD designation for the proposed NCD Area.

Noise Advisory Committee
The Noise Advisory Committee advises the Select Board on issues related to the noise by-law.

Permanent Building Committee (PBC)
When authorized by the Town, the Permanent Building Committee has general supervision over the design and construction of public structures, recreational facilities and buildings.

Pierce-Lockwood Neighborhood Conservation District (PLNCD) Commission
The residents of the Pierce-Lockwood Neighborhood Conservation District strongly believe that both the 1800s and 1920s architecture, and the part that the neighborhood played in the economic development of the area, are strong reasons for its preservation.

Planning Board
The Planning Board is responsible for the review of residential special permit applications, administering Subdivision Regulations in accordance with the state subdivision control law, and adopting zoning amendments and rezoning petitions according to the Zoning Bylaw and Development Regulations.

Police Manual Policy Committee
The Committee reviews the Police Department Manual and makes recommendations concerning appropriate revisions, amendments, and additions. The Committee reports to the Select Board at least annually.

Recreation Committee
The Recreation Committee is responsible for the planning and administration of public playgrounds and recreational centers in the town. It is charged with administering, expanding, and promoting recreation, leisure activities, play, sports, and physical education.

Retirement Board
The Lexington Retirement Board administers the Town of Lexington employee retirement system in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and provides information on the rights, benefits, and regulations regarding retirement to all covered current and former employees of the Town of Lexington.

School Building Committee
This committee has been formed per the State's guidelines “for the purpose of generally monitoring the Application process and to advise…during the construction of an Approved Project.”

School Committee
The Lexington School Committee establishes educational goals and policies for the schools in the district, consistent with the requirements of law and statewide goals and standards.

Select Board
The elected, five member Select Board meets throughout the year to make policy and oversee the operations of Town government, pursuant to the Selectmen-Town Manager Act of 1968.

Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250)
The goal of this Semiquincentennial Commission is to evaluate, make recommendations and coordinate the Town-wide activities to be held to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington (which will take place in April 2025) and other historical events related to the founding of our Country.

Sustainable Lexington Committee
Sustainable Lexington is a Town committee appointed by the Select Board to enhance Lexington's long-term sustainability and resilience in response to environmental resource and energy challenges.

Tourism Committee
The Tourism Committee works to enhance and promote Lexington tourism. The Committee works with community groups to ensure a cohesive tourism experience.

Town Celebrations Committee
The Committee plans and carries out the proper observance of Patriots Day and all other holidays and special events that the Select Board may designate from time to time.

Town Report Committee
The Committee designs, compiles, edits, and prepares for publication the Annual Report of the town.

Transportation Advisory Committee
The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) initiates and supports efforts to meet the transportation needs of Lexington’s residents and advises the Select Board and other Town boards and committees on issues that concern alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle travel.

Transportation Safety Group
The Transportation Safety Group is a Town Manager appointed Working Group which meets monthly to evaluate issues and concerns relative to traffic, transit, pedestrian, bicycle and parking safety.

Tree Committee
The Lexington Tree Committee is dedicated to the protection, planting, and continued care of Lexington's trees and the enhancement of green spaces.

Trustees of the Public Trusts
The Trustees of Public Trusts administer trust funds belonging to the town.

Turning Mill Neighborhood Conservation District (NCD) Commission
In April 2018, 113 parcels within the Turning Mill neighborhood received approval from Lexington Town Meeting to form an NCD via the bylaw Chapter 78A.

Vision for Lexington Committee
The Vision for Lexington Committee’s role is to identify a shared vision for Lexington’s future and communicate that vision to municipal decision-makers.

Water & Sewer Abatement Board
The Water/Sewer Abatement Board receives applications from ratepayers for abatement or adjustment of water/sewer charges due to disputes, hardship or error.

Youth Commission
The Youth Commission was established for the purpose of carrying out programs to provide opportunities or to meet the challenges and problems of youth in the town. The Commission is mandated to appoint an advisory committee consisting of younger persons.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The role of the Board of Appeals is to hear and decide administrative zoning appeals, hear and decide applications for special permits, and hear and decide petitions for variances.
