Citizens' Academy
The first Citizens' Academy, held in the fall of 2009, was a joint initiative of the Lexington 2020 Vision Committee and Lexington Community Education.
Announcing the 2012 Lexington Citizens' Academy
Lexington residents are invited to attend a program specifically designed to familiarize citizens with the departments and services of Town government. Through presentations, discussions, and visits to Town facilities, residents will gain a deeper understanding of how Lexington's local government operates and the processes and procedures associated with municipal services, schools, and facilities. In addition, the Academy will promote two-way dialogue between Town staff and residents, and enhance public participation by communicating opportunities for involvement.
There is no fee for attending the Academy. Early registration is suggested as the Academy will be limited to 30 participants. Efforts will be made to be inclusive of all age groups. Preference will be given to those who have not previously served on any Town Boards or Committees, and those with fewer than five years of experience as Town Meeting Members.
For further information, or to register, contact Michelle Stevens in the Town Manager's Office.
