The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) which oversees all the Massachusetts Public Pension Systems published a report on the funding ratios of the pension funds. Lexington's was 82.3% funded as of 1/1/12.
Chair Robert Cunha stated, "The Lexington Retirement Board is proud to provide the following report which shows our system to be the third highest funded radio of any town in the Commonwealth. The system has unequivocally met the challenges rising from the devastating collapse of the capital markets, the ensuing slowdown of the economy and recent statutory changes.
The Retirement board takes great pride in having balanced the need to ensure that liabilitie are addressed with the fact that town resources must meet a variety of needs. The board's professional management of assets has lead to long range returns which supports that the retirement board has responsibly managed the systems assets."
