Committee Process:

Check the Public Meetings Calendar for specific meeting dates.  The Committee generally meets on Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in the Town Office Building.

The Community Preservation Committee recommends CPA projects to Town Meeting, which makes the final decision on uses of CPA funds.  Deadlines for project submission are:

  • November 1 for consideration for recommendation to the spring Annual Town Meeting.

On March 6, 2006, Lexington voted to adopt the Community Preservation Act.
The CPA provides a new funding source for:

  • Acquisition and preservation of open space
  • Creation and support of community housing
  • Acquisition and preservation of historic resources
  • Creation and support of recreational uses

Lexington's Community Preservation Fund will derive funding from a 3% surcharge on local real estate taxes and matching funds from the Commonwealth.
