The Community Preservation Committee recommends CPA projects to Town Meeting, which makes the final decision on uses of CPA funds.  Deadline for project submission is:

  • November 1 for consideration for recommendation to the spring Annual Town Meeting.

The Application Packet for CPA Projects includes Guidelines, Criteria, Project Information, and Application Form. [Contact the CPC Administrative Assistant if you would prefer these documents in Microsoft Word.]

On March 6, 2006, Lexington voted to adopt the Community Preservation Act.
The CPA provides a new funding source for:

  • Acquisition and preservation of open space

  • Acquisition and preservation of historic resources
  • Creation and support of recreational uses

Lexington's Community Preservation Fund will derive funding from a 3% surcharge on local real estate taxes and matching funds from the Commonwealth.
