Zoning
The Commonwealth allows for municipalities to regulate land use through a local Zoning Bylaw. Lexington's Zoning Bylaw (Part II of the Code of Lexington) regulates such things as land use, size and location of structures, off-street parking requirements, signs, and special residential developments.
Administration, enforcement, and interpretation of the Zoning Bylaw is the responsibility of the Building and Zoning Division in the Office of Community Development. Community Development staff also support the Zoning Board of Appeals.
